Mac OS X • Leopard • Snow Leopard Did you move to Snow Leopard the second it was available? Are you and your PowerPC-based Mac staying in Leopard? (Are you lagging behind and only now leaving Tiger?) The newly updated Time Machine minifesto covers both Leopard and Snow Leopard. (Time Machine itself didn't change, but time rolls on and other things changed - especially the cost of backup drives!). There are other revisions, too; click on More Info to the right, under the picture of the book cover, or on the picture itself for details. And/or: download the free excerpt at left! Are you in Snow Leopard? The most recent addition to the family is If you're still in Leopard, try 33 Things to Customize in Leopard - it's never too late to get your Mac set up conveniently! Did you just move to Leopard, you laggard?? Try 33 Things New in Leopard. You will probably have Leopard 10.5.8, and this introduced 10.5.0 - but it still serves as a great introduction to the new-to-you Leopard environment.
The 33 Things Series... Are there really 33 Things in these books? No, but I love alliteration, and market research says that numbers in titles attract readers, so I cheated—in your favor, that is. I rolled items together where they combined nicely, and used decimals for smaller items to squeeze in more info. And then threw in a few bonus items! The Minifestos Series... What's a minifesto? A small manifesto, of course! A Minifesto takes one aspect of an application or the Mac OS and explores it thoroughly. Not every-last-completely-minor detail thoroughly, but with a perfect blend of breadth (a little of everything) and depth (a lot of some things) so you can totally master your computer experience—one thing at a time. The ebook approach Optimized for onscreen reading - and for onscreen manipulation: links for jumping around, bookmarks for a more staid approach. Lots of color, lots of info, just what you need, even if you weren't aware of it. The expert Sharon Zardetto, aka Sharon Zardetto Aker (several other aka's, but that's the only one relevant here), long-time Mac user and author - since 1984, the year the Mac was born! The Macintosh Bible is among the older items on her resumé. Current books are ebooks - because, well, have you looked at book prices lately? Besides the ones on this site, there are: Take Control of Fonts in Leopard, Take Control of Font Problems in Leopard, Take Control: The Mac OS X Lexicon (co-authored with her friend and co-expert Andy Baird), and the newest, Take Control of Safari 4.
